Optimization Domain: HVAC Systems (Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning)
Systems usually operate based on infrastructure, which transform electrical energy to thermal one. Additionally HVAC infrastructure features cover distribution function to transport heat, water, steam or cooled air within the building rooms. Moreover the mentioned infrastructure interacts with the external environment e.g. assuring the circulation of the fresh air to the facility.
Eneon delivers optimization in the following HVAC Systems functions:
Optimization Domain: Lighting
Lighting is one of the main contributors of energy consumption breakdown. Energy is being saved and demand reduced in this area through implementation of personalized controlled lighting strategy that includes automation, individual parameterization of environmental variables, active compensation of artificial lighting, standardization and unification of lighting characteristic and productivity ratio improvement (e.g. number of luxes).Reducing lighting area impacts indirectly HVAC infrastructure needed load decrease e.g. industrial cooling. We have to remember that lighting optimization makes lower heating power supplied to the building, but also taking into account that lighting is rather costly method of heating ;) so this trade-off is always profitable. If we plan to upgrade the cooling system for more efficient one, the lighting retrofit might influence on lowering requirements towards capacity of new cooling system – which obviously leads to cost cutting of new investment and mitigation the risk of overscalling. Even it might occur that all the optimizations made external to the cooling systems makes the plans of replacement not needed. Given this example, it is important underlining the connection between all systems installed in the building being the network of interdependent elements. So the sequence of their replacement/optimization is a clue which requires facility’s big picture strategy.
In our lighting projects we use functional&process approach in lighting control strategy preparation. We prepare fundamental analysis of each area of occupation in the facility taking into account building’s time cycle. One of the tasks performed is mapping lighting models depending on identified type of rooms in the facility. Eneon methodology covers central lighting model of group management between each tier / level of the building or separated premises and rooms control from the central point. Additionally it features central parameterization in order to deliver standard lighting level per type of premises and local possibility of adjustment within given range. This management model is a necessity which has to be adopted for comfort work conditions. When lighting project implementing we put pressure on the integration with legacy systems to achieve synergy in saving process (mentioned examples of interferences of lighting systems versus air conditioning systems) and effect of parameters tuning in random systems in parallel (lighting environmental variables change influence on changes scope of other legacy systems). Providing such parameters as geographical state of premises and parts of the buildings, we introduce active compensation of artificial light - lighting strategy that generates savings and energy smart use.
Optimization Domain: Control/Remote Systems
The energy might be saved through the automation and remote control of systems existing in the facility by the use of EMCS (Energy Management Control System) solution. Eneon delivers EMCS systems to manage and to integrate such functions as heating, ventilation, air conditioning and lighting and other operation’s supporting systems.
EMCS systems deployed by Eneon introduce in their operational approach our Golden Rules:
Optimization Domain: Non-Core Processes
Significant amount of energy is being needlessly wasted due to impropriate management and building exploitation processes. The amount of thermal energy delivered or set loose from the building in order to keep comfort and satisfaction of end users is directly proportionally correlated to the difference between temperature and humidity outside. To deal with this issue there might be a need to parameterize variables of heating systems, air conditioning or limit the parameters of random systems for specific buildings areas. This should happen under zero impact or at acceptable level on the employees/customers. When the building is empty the non-core operational processes have to be blanked out to the essential minimum only keeping core ones for business continuity only and security standards maintaining at the same time.
Energy Profile&Curve preparation for our customers referring to their specific activities, environment and line of business, based on reliable sample of data guarantees accurate description of energy optimization potential in their energy infrastructure. Although the opportunities described above are the most profitable in this business segment only case by case approach&analysis allows to leverage maximum potential of your current energy status.
